Latest questions about "sound device"

Many thanks for your replies. I downloaded Audacity but got the same message "Error while opening sound device" and it seems to be a Microsoft sound issue.

My audio device is working, but the sound toolbar is not appearing in the status bar. I tried to go to Control Panel, but it tells me that the sound device is not installed.
