There is an error (498) when trying to install WeChat. What should I do?

The default message for error 498 is Error 498 has occurred while communicating with the server. This means that your phone has issues communicating with the server to download the package. There are a few fixes you could try like:

1. Clear the cache of the phone. Reboot in recovery and then use Wipe Cache. Make sure to avoid Wipe Data. Reboot the phone and download again.

2. Switch to WiFi or another network, because the one you use might be firewalled.

3. Add another account in your phone. Go to Settings > Accounts > Google.
