Unable to use an existing printer with my new laptop

I have a Canon Pixma MG3100 printer. Its software is downloaded on a Lenovo desktop computer, running Windows 7. I have recently purchased a Lenovo laptop computer which runs Windows 8.1. When I tried loading the printer's disc software to the new laptop, it stalls before loading the printer drivers and tells me that they are already in use. Then it tells me to turn off and start the process again. I have done this at least six times without success, the printer drivers haven't loaded and so the printer doesn't function with the laptop. Can anyone help me?

It's possible that you've installed another set of drivers that weren't designed for Windows 8.1. In this case, you should download the package from the official Canon Support website. Download the package, then go to Device Manager using Windows + X > Device Manager. Right click the printer and select Uninstall driver. Remove the driver and then install the new one by pointing the Device Manager wizard to the path where the driver installed.
