What version of Windows is better for a Blu-ray Player?

I want to buy a Computer for my friend as a gift. She said she wanted to watch Blu-ray movies with it. I am choosing between Windows 8 and Windows Vista, which one is better for a Blu-ray Player?

Windows Vista is known to have major problems even if there are Service Packs available. I would recommended Windows 8 for playback of newer media files such as Bly-Ray discs, DVDs, etc.
