Please check the connectivity settings in Yahoo Messenger. There may be something misconfigured regarding the proxy settings in your application. Also, try disabling the firewall as in such cases it treats the outgoing packets as malicious and blocks them from sending. The installation of Yahoo Messenger is recommended especially if you're using an outdated version.
