I would have recommended you Network Magic as it's an excellent application for network monitoring and controlling but it was discontinued at the beginning of August, 2012. You can use SpiceWorks as it provides the same features and extra ones since it's updated regularly. The application is free and easy to use with great tutorials and wizard applications explaining what to do and configure.

greetings Andrew,
i have tried installing the "spiceworks" however it is not exactly what i have expected i have tried the network magic before and it was brilliant and soo simple and can provide a better network monitoring and tracing and it provides a visual network map, please advise if there is any thing else that can be used to do the below actions.
1.monitor the network
2.see all the devices connected to my internal network inc.
(MAC Address,ip address, how to block them, bandwidth used)
3.how to connect remotely on one of the remote machines
4.O.S. Type

I suggest you to go with Motadata network monitoring for easy and fast network analysis.
