Error while trying to import the MP4 file.

I try to import the MP4 video file but is video duration is 00:29. When i try to import this video file and close the Vegas Movie Studio app after the app is running slow. I getting an application freezes and close the application. Why i can fix the program it? Is there anyway to import the MP4 file like Adobe Premiere or Apple Final Cut?
