This happens when the application that you had it working on Windows 7 lacks compatibility with newer operating systems. You will either need a new version or an update to the application to increase its compatibility with Windows 10.
Firstly, locate the installation package, then right click it and choose Properties > Compatibility and choose Windows 7 from the list. Install the software and when you're about to launch it, right click the desktop shortcut once again, but this time choose Run as Administrator.
