How come that my Canon MP Navigator refuses to open after I have installed the OS X 10.8 system. Any remedy, or do I have to wait till Canon gets an update? Or wait till Mac gets an update?

Go to Security & Privacy in your Systems Prefs. Unlock/put in your password then (in General) check the 'Anywhere' button ..... install the MP Navigator ...... return to Security & Privacy, check the Mac App Store OR Mac App Store and identified developers button .... click the lock. (Restart the computer and Repair Disk Permissions).

For Apple, the jump from 10.6 to 10.7 or 10.7 to 10.8 is a big process because it involves big system updates regarding all hardware and software components. In 10.8 many things changed regarding how the applications work with their subsystems and software and such many, 3rd party applications (like your MP Navigator) have to be modified to work with the new operating system. This remains at hand of developers to adapt or to improve their software to work with newer systems and technologies.

I suggest that you remove your old MP Navigator by dragging its main icon into the bin and wait for full uninstall. Restart your Mac then download the newest MP Navigator which works with 10.8 system from this link. Your printer will work fine with the newest software.

I have a CanoScan 8800F and until I upgraded to 10.8 the other day, I was a happy user of MP Navigator EX 1.0.   I have now downloaded and installed MP Navigator EX 4.0 from the link above and also the corresponding update to the scanner driver (Ver. 13.9.2a).

No luck.  Shortly after launching, MP Navigator EX puts up an error window with a list of supported products that does not include my CanoScan 8800F - despite the fact that I had re-installed the software after installing the updated driver.  Restarting didn't help either.

It downloads fine but when I try to open the dmg an error message appears saying it can't be opened since it's from an unidentified developer. The App Store doesn't have it. So is it obsolete?
