A fingerprint scanner driver

My fingerprint scanner recently stopped working and I went through Windows help me to figure out the problem. It told me to uninstall and reinstall the driver. Now it says the access is denied when I try reinstalling the driver. Why is it saying that and what can I do to fix it?

You cannot uninstall the driver because the software associated is currently running. First, open Task Manager (right click on the taskbar) and close the process related to the fingerprint scanner. The third column of the Processes tab will display this information. Force close the application, uninstall the product, then you will be able to re-install the product.
