Information about ports, protocols, services.

Can you please enlighten me to what Ports, Protocols, and Services (PPS) are being utilized by cx_Oracle? After some research, I found the only port being listed is 1521. I read through much of the documentation and notice the indication of some service names, but I was not able to cross reference those with anything from the Oracle list or IANA list. Can you please enlighten me on this?

According to the official information, the cx_Oracle uses the following details when it comes to connection:

  • Port (default): 1521
  • Protocol (default): TCP
  • Service: users's choice

The port is the default one as well as the protocol method. For the service, you can change it to whatever you want or need. There is no default one. For more information, access the official website: http://sourceforge.net/projects/cx-oracle/
