The new Android KitKat 4.4.2 update released by Samsung on 13th February is slowing down my phone (Samsung Galaxy S4) compared to when it had 4.3 Jellybean installed. I read in reviews that it was supposed to improve the performance of the phone. Why is that happening? Is a more stable version under development? I really wish this would be rectified.

If you have upgraded to KitKat 4.4.2, try performing a factory reset. This fixes the problems with slow performance. It happens because of the preinstalled apps. Since you did upgrade, it's possible that some of the apps are not compatible or use the cache from previous version. Factory resetting should fix the issue.
