You should be able to access the camera from Menu > Camera. If you can't find the icon, I suggest you perform a factory reset. In order to do this, turn off the device and press and hold the Volume Up + Power buttons. Then release the Power button but keep the Volume Up pressed until the Android logo appears. Select Wipe Data/Factory reset option and follow the provided instructions. If it doesn't help, I suggest you try using a camera capture utility from Google Play Store.
