Adampiere Client is used for a totally different operation. To sync your Note 2 and your Windows 8 laptop, you will need to use Kies. Kies is the official application released for Samsung phones that has the capability of performing all sorts of operations including synchronization. You can download through the application's page at Software Informer.
Download and install it and also install the drivers and then connect the phone to the PC and start the application.
