Microsoft won't allow it to be installed on Windows 8 Professional. Can you tell me why?

Updater is not developed anymore. You can download the latest version of the application but that is the last one which has support for Windows 7. There are no other supported version for Windows 7. Try to apply a Windows 7 compatibility to a file, but it's not recommended since it's an updater.
