The resident shield detects virus but won't clean it.

My AVG (free edition db 1518/3784 version 10.0.1390) resident shield detected a virus in the Program Files/Windows, but it won't clean the virus when I click on 'Remove selected' or 'Remove all threats'. Is there a way to clean this virus or must I reinstall my operating system (Windows 7)? Is it safe to use my computer?

If you choose to delete files inside Windows 7, the system's functionality might be affected. Try to run AdwCleaner while your antivirus is turned off to remove only the bad files, then update and perform a new scan.
