In order to fix the issue, go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program, select the Office suite from the list and click the Repair button next to Uninstall. Follow the on-screen instructions and reboot your computer after the process is complete. After that, check if the program can read the documents. If not, launch Office Word and from the File menu select Open. Navigate to your files, select them, click on the Open drop-down list next to Cancel button and select Open and Repair option. The software will automatically try to scan and repair the file. If it doesn't work, you can try using an utility from Software Informer database.
