In order to fix the issue, go to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program and select Turn Windows Features ON or OFF from the left. After that, Media Features list, un-check Windows Media Player box and click OK. Reboot your PC, navigate again to Media Features folder and check the Windows Media Player box. If it still doesn't work, update the program to the latest version available. If you still have issues, try running the Fix It utility provided by Microsoft. It is developed to fix all major Windows Media Player problems. As an alternative, you can use another similar program from Software Informer database.
