In order to fix the issue, try running the Fix It utility provided by Microsoft Support team. Click the green Run now button, save the file to your computer and run the utility following the on-screen instructions. If it doesn't help, navigate to Start > Control Panel > Uninstall a program and click the Turn Windows features on or off option. Expand the Media Features list, un-check the Windows Media Player box, click OK and reboot your computer. After that, go again to Turn Windows features on or off and enable the player. If you still have issues, I suggest you contact Microsoft.
