In order to fix the issue, I suggest you both update your audio card drivers. Go to Start, type dxdiag and open the utility. Click the Sound tab, check your sound card model and download from the developer's web page, the latest drivers available. After that, press Windows + Pause/Break key combination and open Device Manager. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers list, right-click on the audio driver and select Update Driver Software. Use the Browse option to navigate to the installation package, select the driver and install it following the on-screen instructions.
Also, right-click the Sound icon from System Tray and select Recording devices. Once the Sound window is opening, right-click on an empty field and select Show disabled devices. Select the Microphone, click Set Default and then press Properties. From Device usage choose Use this device (enable) and click Apply. Do the same with the Playback devices. If you still have issues, I suggest you check Software Informer database for an alternative solution.
