Since this is a case of compatibility issues I strongly suggest to perform a lookout for an update related to your application. Most developers will adapt their applications to latest Windows operating system through an update rather than downloading the whole package. If you manage to install the application, you can use Compatibility Mode that Windows offers it if you right click the executable file and going to Properties. It's a little trick that sometimes is working flawlessly without the need to perform updated after update.
