I received a Java update. Was this a valid update?

Regularly Java updates are necessary as they fix a number of bugs encountered in different situations or caused by specific errors. If you have received a Java update and your applications still work, then it's advised to keep it and work as you should.

Yes, it was a valid update. They fixed a few problems, mostly security related.
