The easiest way to copy your DVD to a hard drive is to use IMGBurn because it can create an image from your DVD which you can play in any multimedia player with ISO/virtual image support. In case you don't want to use IMGBurn then I suggest you use DVDFab as it's the best ripper available for DVD discs.

If you plan to use IMGBurn then open the application, insert your DVD and press Create image file from disc and the files will be saved as ISO image. On the other hand, you can browse to My Computer, right click on the DVD drive and then Explore. Copy VIDEOTS and AUDIOTS folders to a place on your computer and that's it.
