How is a negative image from Clip art called?

Question

I took a PNG clipart, converted it to SVG, then using FreeCad i saved it as a Step file, then in DSM I designed a 2mm tick square, placed the Step image on it then removed the image from the plate to give me a square with a hole in the middle in the shape of the image. After hours I finally got it done, accidently, but can't do it again. Can someone please tell me what that's called so I can look it up on youtube or tell me how to do it again. Thanks

The process of creating a negative image from Clip art is called "Inverting" or "Negative Image". There are tutorials available on YouTube which demonstrate this process.
