Why won't Livescribe Connect work on current Mac OS?

I have downloaded the software, overridden the Systems Preferences to allow Livescribe even though it is not an identified developer. I get an Installation failed message. "The installer encountered an error that caused the installation to fail. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance." I am using macOS Monterey v 12.1.
