How can I use a 32-bit application on my 64-bit Windows 7?

I have recently bought an application but when I want to install it, an error message appears that the app is a 32-bit program and it is not compatible with my 64-bit OS. What can I do? I'm living in a foreign country now and I prefer to get online help.

As I am using a Windows 7 operating system, I can say that 32-bit applications run fine as the OS has compatibility for 99 % of 32-bit applications. In other words, if the messages says that you will need to obtain a 32-bit version of the software, simply ignore it and let Windows run the program. Also if that error persists, try updating Windows 7 using Windows Update and apply all the available updates. This could greatly enhance compatibility among 32-bit applications.

There are some applications designed for a 32bit operating system and work flawlessly in 64bit, but it does not apply as a general rule. The easiest thing to do is to check the homepage of the application. Since 64bit OS is widely used nowadays, most likely you will find an alternative version of the application for your system architecture. You can also try using Compatibility and set the application to an inferior version of Windows.
