Brand new HP 6005 with Windows 7, however, the PC keeps shutting down while listening to a call. It has the most current sound driver, Realtek High Definition Audio from 1/14/11 and version 6.0.1.6.291. Any ideas why?

I don't think the computer shuts down because you're listening to an audio file. The sound device only plays the file. I think it's the player you're using to playback the file that has problems with sound files.

I recommend using the most common audio file playing software because it's standard and works pretty good on all systems. You can find Winamp on the Software Informer section.
