I am using AutoCAD 2004 English without add-ins. Yesterday I saved the file and went out, today it did not open:

INTERNAL ERROR:! Saveres.cpp@440: eGeneralMoldingFailure

I tried various recovery options but they didn't work.

This indicates that the drawing files has been corrupted due to unknown reasons. Autodesk created a page with clear instructions on what to do when this happens.

I suggest you visit the following URL to learn about the possible solutions to this issue or look below:

  • If you are able to open the drawing:
Save the drawing to an earlier dwg version or use the DXFOUT command to save the file as a dxf and then use the DXFIN command to save the file back to DWG format.

  • If you aren't able to open the drawing:
Use a tool to convert the dwg-file into a dxf-file
