Most likely, the software is not compatible with the Windows 8 operating system. I recommend to manually check for updates because it seems you're using an outdated version of Map 6 or an incompatible one. Windows 8 is an OS which needs updated libraries and code for the applications that are meant to run inside its environment. The latest version of MAP is AutoCAD Map 3D 2014 which was designed to reached high standards regarding Windows compatibility.
Please use the latest version because you are using an unsupported version of AutoCAD Map.
