Problem with HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer - J610a and Windows 7 64-bit

Hi, today I tried to reinstall my HP Deskjet 3050 All-in-One Printer - J610a on my Dell Vostro using Windows 7 64-bit laptop and I keep getting the same message that the installation failed. I have next to me my old Toshiba laptop using Windows XP which is happily printing using the HP printer, so I know the printer works fine.

I have never been able to print wirelessly using the HP 3050 AIO printer from my Dell, and printing using the USB cable regularly crashed my laptop with the "blue screen of death" error, so I used to be able to print 1 or 2 pages via a cable on the Dell, but now I cannot even install the printer.

As I can see, the given printer has support for the Windows 7 64-bit operating system. The drivers and software are 100 % compatible with the operating system.

My recommendation is to try and download the full package (drivers and software) and perform a fresh installation because it seems that you have been using wrong drivers which in this case might restrict you from using the printer at its full capability.

Kindly download the full package with drivers from the following page and perform a fresh installation on your Dell using the Run As Administrator option.

Hi, Andrew! Thank you very much for your kind assistance. I will certainly try this. To be honest, I restored my system back to an earlier date when the printer worked intermittently with my laptop. As it's my personal laptop, I am set up as an administrator, presumably with the rights to run installations. But I will try your approach when I am brave enough to re-embark on what turned out to be an incredibly frustrating re-install. Cheers, Claire

Log in to HP Solution Center. I have used them many times and they have correted any printer problems I had.
