Can PE-DESIGN Lite edit PES files?

I would like to know if PE-DESIGN Lite is capable of working with PES files. Could you please help me?

According to its PDF manual, PE-DESIGN Lite is capable of working with PES files along with 12 other embroidery-specific formats.
