The dongle you're speaking off is related to the PhoenixRC's activation procedure meaning that you can't use the application without the dongle. That's used for activating the license so you can use the game/app.
There are many problems with the dongle because of compatibility with operating systems, unsupported drivers, issues with PCs, and other computer related problems (DLLs missing, runtimes, permissions etc).
