The main cause to this issue is compatibility between the applications you use. For example, it's possible that Office 2013 lacks compatibility with the application you use to upload, therefore an update is necessary for this procedure. Contacting Microsoft to ask them about compatibility for Office wouldn't be recommended, because they can't just release an update, instead you should contact the developers for the other software. It's easier this way and more practical. If you have the application, then go to Help > About and use that info to get in touch with developers.
