WinZip Pop-up Ads were very annoying and were NOT stopped by disabling WinZip notifier in Windows Task Manager. I contacted WinZip support and they were very reluctant to help with this but finally gave the following instructions:

Please remove/delete the 3 WinZip Update Notifier tasks from the Windows Task Scheduler to insure it will not be run.

Also Please delete the WZUpdateNotifier.exe file from the "C:\Program Files\WinZip" folder without causing any harm to the program.

After doing this, you will not not get any Promotional POPUP from WinZip application.

This worked for me and did not affect program use!

This is actually what I did do but it's ridiculous I have to do this on a product I already paid for.  Also, this product has become such a resource hog.  It's very slow and the features that come with it are not at all worth these headaches.  I will be canceling my subscription and going with alternatives,

WinZip still is dragging its feet, providing slow/no support, publishing misleading info on how to stop these annoying "buy more" popups, etc. Frustrating!

I finally found WinZip Update Notifier in my Active Tasks list. I see no way to disable it. WinRAR.

It holds my files hostage. I have bought on several occasions.

It is always wanting me to pay for a newer edition. It works fine for a bit and then you can't open anything unless you pay again.

Deleting the registry key worked for me. However, WinZip should make it easier.

Thanks, found the notifier and deleted it. This has been driving me crazy for years. What a disreputable company. I've never installed a single other piece of software that does this, and long ago this intrusion made me decide never to purchase WinZip again.

I also just uninstalled WINZIP. I have been using it for years and have purchased at least 10 licenses.

Winzip is useless and annoying...they buried their spy bug deep in the registary. You need to delete this file "{6D809377-6AF0-444B-8957-A3773F02200E}\WinZip\WZUpdateNotifier.exe" or its varient from your computer to stop the stupid pop up
