The snaps you refer to are actually called Stories and they remain in your time line for 24 hours regardless of you opening or not. Message snaps are stored for 30 days in case you don't open them. This is the policy that Snapchat uses for their service. There is no way to bypass this restriction and if you try other clients or scripts, the account will be banned.
