When you enter a wrong pattern too many times, the phone will give you an option to enter the email attached to that phone. This also requires the data or Wi-Fi connection to be active, because a backup PIN will be sent to your recovery email. If you can't activate the data or Wi-Fi, then it's impossible to recover the backup PIN, and a hard reset is required.
However, visit a local phone service shop or Samsung support, and they will remove the PIN for you for a very small fee.
