I have a lot of iTunes videos and I would like to play them on VLC Media Player. I know M4V videos have DRM protection. Is there any way to get rid of DRM? How to do it?

There are plenty of applications that can remove DRM from various files. You need to test a few products in order to find the one that actually converts your file and retains the quality. Most of the applications will simply convert the file and change the quality of the product.

Use the database of Software Informer to look for such applications: http://software.informer.com/search/itunes+drm

Among all reasons that result in VLC won't play M4V files, the following two are the most likely causes:
• .m4v codec get removed from VLC Media Player, so you even cannot play DRM-free M4V files.
• The M4V movies and TV shows bought from iTunes Store are protected by Apple' FairPlay DRM, and they can't be played on non-Apple devices or video players.
To play M4V files on VLC Media Player, we need to first remove DRM from iTunes videos and then convert M4V to MP4.

iTunes M4V Converter for Mac is considered as the best program to convert and play iTunes M4V videos on VLC Media Player. This professional M4V DRM Removal tool can help you remove DRM from both rental and purchased M4V movies, TV shows or music videos from iTunes Store, and then convert M4V to DRM-free MP4 with 5.1 audio tracks and all subtitles preserved.

VLC can read several formats, depending on the operating system it is running on, like MP4, FLV, 3GP, WMV and so on. If you want to play iTunes movies on VLC, you should remove DRM firstly. I always use M4V Converter Plus for Windows ( http://m4v-converter-plus.software.informer.com/ ). It is very easy to use.
With it, you can get rid of DRM protection from iTunes videos and convert iTunes M4V videos to common videos the VLC supported. You can follow the tutorial http://www.m4vconverterplus.com/howto-and-guides/howto-play-itunes-movies-on-vlc-media-player.html
