How can I recover lost text messages and contacts from Samsung Galaxy S5?

But I didn't backup my phone with Kies, one of friends recommend me using Android recovery tool to retrieve lost messages and contacts from my Samsung, but I'm not sure if it works with my phone, any suggestion?
