Yes, you can format it to the NTFS format. Do not attempt to format to FAT32 or you'll encounter errors. However, the tool should be used only with the Freecom hard drives. Additionally, Windows 10 and Windows 7 installation disks feature a disk management section where you can perform the format from there as well. There is no point in using this if you can do it already from the setup of Windows 7.
