No, the remote connection does not feature the possibility of directly formatting the hard drive. This can be achieved only when you have direct contact to the device and use the buttons and menus available on its interface. I have checked a manual for a device of the same kind and the HDD format option is accessed through the OSD Menu. No remote support is provided for any of the devices in the series.
