Avira Free Antivirus doesn't have an ad-blocking module. You will need a browser extension to do that. However, if you choose to install the security toolbar provided by the Avira, then the ads should be blocked automatically. However, I recommend installing AdBlock to make it more effective. The AdBlock extension can be installed through the Extension store available in almost all the browsers released until now.
