Media Player Classic works best with the default settings. If you don't know the exact codecs to use, I recommend you keep the default options, however, from my experience Media Player Classic works best with FFDSHOW. You can choose it when the EXPERT installation mode was selected. Use that instead of LAV or any other codecs available to avoid any issues with the new codecs, although there haven't been reported any issues at all.
