asked by about Innova OBD PC-Link

When I open up and try to use the Innova OBD PC-Link, I get a message "The installation of Crystal Report Basic for Visual Studio 2008 (x64) appears to have failed. Do you want to continue the installation?". I have tried a number of times and still nothing. I have gone to the Innova website and downloaded the same and tried to install it on my computer but I get the same message. What do I do? I just bought a Innov 3120D Diagnostic tool for reading OBD Codes for Vehicles and I cannot get it to link to my computer. The other issue being that I cannot update my new equipment either. I tried calling Innov and I had some lady tell me to get in touch with my computer manufacturer or contact Microsoft to fit the problem as I was the only one having issues.

As you can see in the error, you are lacking functionality for the Crystal Report package. Since that is an important component for the good functionality of the software, it's correct installation is absolutely necessary. My advice is to actually perform a clean installation. Remove everything starting with Innova and ending with anything related to Microsoft Visual Studio. Use CCleaner to clear the registry from obsolete entries, reboot the PC and then install the application again. Additionally, make sure you have a 64bit enabled operating system, or the installation will fail even after all these recommendations.

Tried as recommended, still not working. Tried on my old desk top running XP service pack 3 and it seems to work however, I need it on my lap top running windows 7 premium as that is what I use in my garage. Paid $300+ for this reader and it can't even marry up to my laptop, really not happy...
