The ZTE NetConnect X1 comes in many models with Huawei or ZTE chipset. You need to find that chipset that's written on the manual of the modem or on the modem on a sticker. After you identify the correct model number, use Google Search and type model number + Windows 7, because I have seen that Windows 8 is not supported. The only way to install it is to get the Windows 7 drivers, but since the model is not known, Google Search will help you accordingly. After you obtain the drivers, install the package, reboot the PC and continue with the installation.
Make sure to disable driver Enforcement on Windows 8 before installing the drivers.
