If the device doesn't have support for Windows 8, you will have to install it manually. First thing to do is to disable Windows Driver Enforcement. Press Windows Key + C > PC Settings > Recovery and Updates > Startup > Advanced Startup > Troubleshoot startup. Reboot the PC and select option 7. Reboot the PC again, but this time install the software from the drive in the computer. Accept the driver installation. Unplug the device, then plug it back and accept the driver installation. Skip obtaining it from the Internet. Confirm that everything works, and then reboot the PC again. The Windows Driver Enforcement will be enabled again. Plug the USB device. It should work.
