MPLAB IDE is a programming environment which is heavily updated due to an increasing number of devices that need programming for different jobs. The software has reached version 8.X and as far as I have seen on a recorder webinar, it supports all kinds of PICs, besides the one you've mentioned. As for version 7.50, this product is available for programming and the compiler used is CCS which has support (in this version) for PIC12/14/16/18. The selection of the compiler is available next to choosing your PIC device (when using Project Wizard at work): on the next screen, you can choose it from the drop-down menu which is available.
