THIS IS THE ANSWER!!! I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. I JUST DID IT!!
GO TO VOLUME SETTINGS....SCROLL DOWN TO HEARING AID...CLICK ON IT...AND YOUR VOLUME WIL GO UP.

Factory reset, still only popping sound, I'm root and wondering what all goes into making the sound work. I lost sound after a reset before I rooted.

what is the menu button look like??? and how do you hold down all three buttons at the same time because no menu even pops up to sweep my data???

... you need to check the Sound section from the Settings menu ... other settings but if the problem persists, it might be required ... boot normally and go to Sound again and test the ringtones ...
