this is waht i used.. sorry anonymous but its a virus.. its not as easy as what you described above and im still not sure its gone yet..

When I try and remove the update manager, sweetim asks for all kinds of permissions on my computer AND sets about INSTALLING!!!

The update manager can be found in the Add/Remove programs in the Control Panel where you can remove it.
