Trying to download Avira Antivirus using Windows 7 but I keep getting download failed error.

If you have problems downloading Avira Antivirus, I strongly recommend on using the direct download URL: Download.

Click the link and save the file and if you're using a download accelerator, make sure to disable it although I have never had problems downloading the Avira package.
