To be able to attach files in WhatsApp, first you need to open a chat with a friend. You can select him from the friends list. Once the chat is open, tap on the pin in the upper-right and select the type of file. Based on your selection, the phone will offer you applications that you can use to select the files. Open the application, select the file and wait for sending operation to complete and that's it.
